10th February 2012

Dear Tenth of February,

Thank you for providing a day, another twenty four hours of breathing and living, achieving and giving.  I am grateful, even though you are a little bit ordinary and there's nobody crossing the days off their calendar to get to you.  And, let's face it, you're no twenty fifth of December or fourteenth of February and you will never measure up to some of the great firsts, like the first of January and the first of April.  But you are no fool!  So please don't feel insignificant. Please don't be disheartened, after all there are twenty four good hours of you and you're certainly warmer than the tenth of July.  You are the forty first day of the year and you are more than likely VERY special to those whose birthday falls today.

Other than that, well, um, you are a bit ordinary aren't you?  I mean, you did do the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy in 2006 but that's not the real Olympics is it?  And, in 1997, you held the thirteenth soap opera digest awards.  Hmm, not sure what you were thinking.  Wasn't really great for your credibility was it?

Come on!  Liven up!  Can't you pull out a Royal mishap, the birth of a superstar, an alien visit or at the very least, a celebrity divorce?!!

Look, I don't mean to be harsh.  I'm just thinking of you.  I do appreciate that at least you came and went, so thanks for that...but I will expect more from you next year.

Jo
