Thank you for your travel tales of France and Austria and especially of Israel where you found love and hope and new direction. Thank you for your drive and commitment, your conversion to Judaism, for teaching me that it's never to late to change and learn. Who else, in their seventies, decides to learn Hebrew? You are strong, independent, generous.
I remember Christmas at Sandycot. Snow, like Christmas cake icing, sat thick on the walls that edged your garden. I remember climbing into a freezing bed, hiding under the covers, excited that Father Christmas would come but scared that I might see him. You rose early to bake Christmas treats in the kitchen, and you squealed with us as we discovered our presents.
Today you are wobbly on your feet, your eyes and ears fail you, but you are razor sharp.
