Dear Guitar,

Thank you for the music.

I hadn't held you for so long.  My expectations were low.  Neglected, dusty, you were out of tune, so I gently twisted at your keys until you sounded like you might create a song.  My strumming was gentle at first.  I guess I was reluctant to make a horrible noise, scare the cat, put myself off for another three years.

How charming and delightful of you to let go with me and flow into melody (note: not very complex melody.)  You hand delivered actual music!  So, of course I kept playing and then I hummed along for a while and when the cat didn't run away I thought I could probably introduce a little singing.  And the lyrics rolled off my tongue (note: not very complex lyrics) and you continued to play along.

The sheer joy of it was worth these sore finger tips.
