You were 'Granny' to me. With your lark-angel singing, you stopped people in their tracks. I remember your stockinged legs, your sensible shoes and your stiff triangle handbag.
Thank you for your courage and strength and for leading the way. I love that it was the 1940's and you married a man 15 years younger than you (he was enchanted by your song) and you were 44 when you gave birth to your first (and only) child.
Thank you for your love, for your hand holding; your protection. Thank you for riding on the back of motorcycles. Thank you for the scent of lavender.
I wish we could have had more time together.
