Dear Disco,

Thank you Disco music.  Thank you mister rhythm and fender jazz bass!  Thank you!
Now, I say "disco" but I'm really talking about discoey, funky, soulie, r&b here. (Confused?)
I was listening to Triple RRR's Primary Colours show yesterday and I got an ear load of the best tunes, and I realised how many classic disco numbers I have in my collection, so I compiled them all into a play list and I discoed and souled and funked myself to sleep last night...hence I've woken this morning with an Afro and an attitude - a fine attitude that is.

Songs like Diana Ross' Upside Down and Chic's Le Freak, Everybody Dance and Good Times - they get me to that happy, vibey disco place every time.  Nile Rodgers is the neat disco master behind each of those songs (and has made many other damn fine musical contributions) so I'm very grateful to him too.

I've been listening to Patrice Rushen's Forget Me Nots since I was twelve; that number still spins my mirror ball!  I'd go to bed with my walkman and listen at full volume, imagining I was the one belting out tunes to an adoring crowd.

Go on, get you some of my play list and I bet you'll pretty soon have disco attitude and gratitude.

Jo's Gratitude Disco Play list (welcome to the gratitude disco)
1. Upside Down - Diana Ross (to get you in the mood)
2. Everybody Dance - Chic (classic)
3. Forget Me Nots - Patrice Rushen (go to that happy, vibey, disco place)
4. Le Freak - Chic (Get your freak on, get your funk on, get your flares on)
5. I Don't Know Why (I love you) - Brand New Heavies
6. Milkshake - Village People (just kidding)
7. Good Times - Chic (soooo good)
8. Keep on Truckin' - Eddie Kendricks (thanks for that gem, RRR)
